JOB SCOPE:
The Engineering Manager will direct and coordinate activities of the Engineering department to design, manufacture, and test the components, products and systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communicate with management, production, and marketing staff to determine feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and/or existing products.
• Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to help plan projects.
• Forecasts operating costs of the department and directs preparation of budget requests.
• Gives direction and examples for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.
• Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
• Adhere to all industry specific customer requirements as appropriate; TS16949, ISO14001, GM, Ford, and Stellantis.
• Manages engineering related quote activities.
• Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
• Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
• Informs management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter- departmental relations.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with management and leadership to set and assess priorities across teams
• Manages all program management activity.
• Assesses cost and feasibility of manufacturing processes; creates and implements recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines, including EPA and OSHA requirements.
• Prepares and implements the department budget.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor and/or other leadership with programs, activities, and responsibilities of the maintenance department.
• Provides guidance and oversight in development and execution of plant renovations and expansions, coordinates outside contractors and vendors.
• Supervises tooling operations, ensuring all work is performed accurately and according to quality and safety standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• 10+ years working in a machining environment.
• 10+ years of working in a plant environment.
• 5 years of supervisory experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in manufacturing engineering field
