Ampliform originates, develops, builds, operates, and optimizes utility-scale solar and solar + storage projects in the United States. Ampliform is led by a team of veteran developers, investors and operators in the energy sector with collectively over 100 years of management experience. Ampliform's team has originated and developed multiple gigawatts of solar energy projects and overseen several gigawatts of power generation investments.
Ampliform is a joint venture between Prospect14—a solar development platform with a data-driven approach to scaled project origination and development—and a seasoned team of infrastructure investors and operators with a track record of optimizing merchant coal, gas, and renewable power generation facilities.
Position Overview
Ampliform is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our dynamic growing team. The Engineering Manager - EPC Support will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating engineering activities related to our renewable energy projects. This individual will ensure that all engineering tasks are completed efficiently, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in renewable energy projects, particularly in the engineering, procurement, and construction phases. This role requires a hands-on approach, excellent project management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead and manage engineering teams to deliver high-quality renewable energy projects on time and within budget.
- EPC Coordination: Collaborate with EPC teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering designs with procurement and construction activities.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Design Review: Oversee the review and approval of engineering designs, specifications, and drawings.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure all engineering deliverables meet the required standards.
- Resource Management: Allocate and manage engineering resources effectively to meet project demands.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to engineering aspects of EPC projects.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes and project outcomes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of combined industry-related and transferable experience
- Proven experience in solar project design and renewable energy projects.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with production analysis tools, such as PVSyst.
- Project management experience with a track record of successful solar utility scale project delivery.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Prior experience ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage competing deadlines or projects.
- Committed team player with the ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships.
- Ability to manage the design of multiple complex projects, coordinating the efforts of multiple stakeholders, including vendors, customers, utilities, permitting authorities and professional engineers.
- Strong NEC & NESC knowledge and exhibited experience in building electrical systems and design, including sizing, and specifying electrical service equipment, transformers, metering equipment, protective relaying, overcurrent devices, cable, conduit, switchboards, and panel boards preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and PVSyst for grid connected PV systems larger than 20MWac.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam, Civil 3D, and GIS
- Knowledge of PV Design software such as PVCase, Helioscope, Helios 3D, SunDAT or PV Mega
- Proficiency in Smartsheet and MS Office Suite applications
