Job Description
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering team and ensuring that key
projects and engineering duties are fulfilled. They are responsible for solving any engineering issue that
comes up in a project. A few of the main duties of an engineering manager are answering technical
questions, proposing budgets for projects, training new employees, and working with various other
departments. They must also prepare reports on progress of various projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and oversees the development and implementation of engineering policies, programs
and processes which promote improved, safe, reliable and efficient performance of projects
Participates in the development, evaluation and introduction of new technology changes
Ensures that improvements in systems, processes and procedures are identified and delegated
to the perspective engineers for team implementation
Identifies and implements improvements in processes and procedures. Provides expertise and
focused attention on the company's growing and emerging technologies
Establishes plans to improve the cost effectiveness, timeliness and reliability of engineering
department operations
Directs the development and implementation of work process changes needed to improve
efficiency, quality and productivity
Plans and manages the department's financial resources through defining and developing
capital, operations and maintenance budgets
Manages, selects, coaches, delegates and develops engineering staff. Assesses the need for, and
oversees implementation of, programs to ensure employees possess technical and behavioral
skills required to support project/operating plans
Problem-solving and provide solutions to engineering process problems. Identify and
recommend improvements
Leads, develops and delegates to the engineering team with the writing process, policies,
procedures, etc.
Assign tasks to engineers, gauge progress of various projects and collaborate with customers
and various teams/departments on projects
Propose budgets, create reports with project manager and other departments for various
projects
Qualifications:
Minimum required bachelor's degree (MBA or Master's in Engineering field preferred) and 5+
years of engineering experience in Aerospace industry with increasing responsibilities
Must have superior analytical and math skills and ability to make quick decisions
Ability to communicate in English and any another language is a plus
Demonstrate problem-solving abilities and ability to collaborate with multiple departments on
various levels
Ability to create a set of qualifications for a new product and/or existing product
Interpersonal skills to manage a team of engineers and give constructive criticism
Cascade and translate strategies into action plans
Communicate goals and priorities (company, department, team); ensure line of sight
Drive accountability/monitor progress and communicate, communicate, communicate
Experience with writing procedures, work instructions, processes and policies
