As a Manager of Engineering, Software Development, your goal is to help deliver the most innovative and intuitive customer experiences for JCrew Group. You will partner with business, Product, UX, Site, Store, Development, QE and support teams to help define Jcrew’s technology strategy. Reporting to the Sr Manager / Director of Engineering, you will vet product ideas, work closely with our business partners and facilitate design and delivery of the best technology solutions. You will have the opportunity to work with a pool of talented software developers and leads to develop applications that impact millions of clients in both North America & Beyond. Your focus is going to be on the engineering excellence not limited to one vertical, but is generic and can be expanded to Retail Technology, e-commerce Technology, Order Management Solutions, Marketing Platforms, Mobile applications and other portfolios as deemed appropriate.
Your responsibilities include:
- Work closely with Engineers and implement the technology strategy for software engineering across different tracks.
- Hire, Mentor and Manage geographically distributed teams to deliver products with high quality.
- Contribute to the overall system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability and performance of different technology stacks that’s spans across different domains.
- Influence and inform resources and partners whom you do not directly manage and communicate effectively to get alignment on requirements and decisions
- Collaborate with key technology stakeholders to execute technology roadmap, balancing competing interests and needs across the organization to meet the business and technology vision
- Work closely with Architects, Developers to define state of the art designs that will help satisfy the current vision, but also ensure that the designs are futureproofing.
Experience we would love you to have:
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial role
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience with expertise in building e-commerce and retail applications
- A strong track record of hiring stellar engineers and contribute to their career growth
- Deep experience in the development of shopping applications (preferred), with an understanding of the technical and client experience differences between site, mobile web, mobile apps, order management and retail apps
- Experience in providing technical guidance to the Engineering teams.
- The ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and collaborate well with cross-functional teams.
- flexible with regards to changing priorities & business needs and switching between domains as needed.
- Good knowledge on the design and development of Domain and Technology agnostic products
- Experience in building service-oriented applications ( Micro Services )
- Proficient in building Java/J2EE applications.
- Ability to think through different perspective, have the client-first mindset, be proactive, be accountable and have the Drive to take on responsibilities.
- Computer Science degree is a plus
- Experience in managing remote teams and deliver results.
- Working knowledge in databases like Oracle / MS SQL / No-SQLs and Paas and Saas Platforms
- Have good knowledge on cloud applications ( AWS, Azure, GCP )
