This role is within the Research and Development (R&D) function
This is a great opportunity for a Senior Engineering Manager to manage our FEA team - Modeling and Simulation.Responsibilities:Set clear objectives, evaluate progress against objectives, and instill performance-oriented culture with a focus on accountability. Provide resource allocation guidance to the engineering group through analysis of current and future workload and skill availability. Assure the integration of Modelling and Simulation into engineering projects through coaching, training and practice, with an emphasis on technical rigor and adherence to best practices. Prioritize activities with stakeholders based on strategic and tactical importance to the organization.Develop an innovative, career-development focused team with high level of performance and accountability.Partner with appropriate stakeholders to attract, ensure engagement, development, and retention of R&D talent within the business.Maintain an environment of high expectations and accountability while driving functional excellence.Support new product design by advancing virtual design optimization techniques (FEA, CFD, FSI).Help generate leading-edge knowledge of Modelling and Simulation methods for design and manufacturing.Lead cross-functional site initiatives to improve design processes and reduce the burden associated with legacy processes.Lead and achieve project objectives and milestones with initially complex or undetermined outcomes.Contribute to decision-making using personal expertise, customer input, and feasibility assessment.Have advanced understanding of physics-based modelling (FEA, CFD, FSI) and statistics.Actively mentor, coach, and ensure career development plans are in place for direct reports.Understand and comply with company policies & procedures and external standards & guidance (e.g
ASME VVUQ40). Responsibilities may also include:Plan, direct and implement aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products.Develop, evaluate, implement, and maintain quality assurance and standards pertaining to modelling and simulation used during product development.Oversee the investigation and evaluation of existing and new physics-based modelling techniques.Guide the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, processes or products.Direct the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.Manage feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.Monitor documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.Organize the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.Nice to HaveCross-functional project team experience.Industry knowledge in implantable medical devices.Proven ability in influencing cross functional peer colleaguesExperienced in working with large, multi-site, matrix organizations.Product design related to cardiovascular products.Experience with Design for Reliability in Manufacturing or an equivalentProven track record of developing engineering solutions for complex problemsStrong systems engineering skills Experience and working knowledge of FDA regulations/ISO standards for medical devicesRequires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R
