Summary:
The Engineering Manager will oversee the daily operations of a diverse team, encompassing systems, electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, with an estimated team size ranging from 10 to 12 members.
Top Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (EE, ME, CS, ChE), Master's preferred
- Demonstrated experience (5+ years) leading a technical team in the development of new electro-mechanical products (circuit-board / PCB based designs) in, ideally Aerospace or DoD industry, or other highly regulated industries (automotive, medical, etc.)
- Proven technical expertise in power systems, electronic design, and software development methodologies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in program management, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgetary constraints.
- Familiarity with aerospace environmental and development standards applicable to both Military and Commercial sectors (e.g., MIL-STD-810, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254).
- Growth potential ability beyond this level of position
Additional Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess a background featuring the following demonstrable experience, skills, and educational qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (EE, ME, CS, ChE) is mandatory, with preference given to candidates holding an advanced engineering degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of Engineering Management experience within a highly regulated sector such as Aerospace, Automotive, or Medical industries.
- Proven technical expertise in power systems, electronic design, and software development methodologies.
- Familiarity with aerospace environmental and development standards applicable to both Military and Commercial sectors (e.g., MIL-STD-810, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254).
- Experience navigating through aerospace product development lifecycles, managing both hardware and software co-development from initial requirements to production release.
- Demonstrated proficiency in program management, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgetary constraints.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate teams towards achieving set program objectives aligned with organizational goals.
- Track record of successfully launching complex technical products into the market.
- Competence in drafting technical proposals and providing non-recurring engineering (NRE) estimates to support new business bids and proposals.
- Effective interpersonal and communication abilities are essential for team leadership and interaction with executive management.
- Hands-on experience in co-designing with Operations teams to address design for manufacture (DFM) concerns, facilitating smooth product transitions to production.
- Upholds a high standard of integrity, strictly adhering to all company policies and procedures.
- Capability to present intricate technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical understanding.
- Proficiency in managing obsolescence issues, including sourcing alternate parts, qualifying replacements, and implementing product enhancements.
- Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel for customer site visits and work at alternate locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, the individual will be tasked with, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Offering leadership to the team, overseeing program management, and fostering talent development within the Engineering division of the company.
- Directing all aspects of design engineering to align with short- and long-term business goals.
- Providing technical guidance to both the Engineering team and Sales/Marketing teams, including engaging in customer visits and tracking industry trends.
- Demonstrating adept program management skills to support multiple program developments effectively.
- Managing intricate design activities while ensuring program objectives are met within stipulated cost and schedule parameters.
- Making substantial contributions to the continuous improvement of processes, systems, and products.
- Exercising personnel authority over the Engineering organization, including recruitment, performance appraisals, promotions, and compensation decisions, subject to upper management approval.
- Collaborating with the business leadership team to create technical presentations and provide budget/schedule estimates to support new program opportunities and proposals.
- Continuously developing the team's skills to stay abreast of advancements in industry technology.
- Handling various tasks such as job assignments, Client estimates, project and engineering status updates, bid support for projects, employee training, goal setting and reviews, and budget management.
