This internship position provides engineering, estimating, pipeline operations, and other technical services for pipeline construction, operations, and maintenance contracts.
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand, practice and continually lead by example Doyon Associated, LLC’s (DAL) commitment to zero incident safety and environmental culture.
- Learn compliance methods with pipeline construction safety and environmental standards.
- Assist DAL’s team to ensure required permits are on hand and current.
- Assist DAL’s team with preparing project proposals.
- Understand and ensure adherence to applicable codes and regulations, client standard operating procedures, management of change and corporate standards.
- Assist with preparing work plans for pipeline construction and repair projects.
- Monitor daily construction activities and record on appropriate forms.
- Assist with timely preparation and submittal of accurate fabrication drawings (use of AutoCAD).
- Assist with interpretation of technical drawings and pipeline alignment sheets.
- Assist with obtaining interpretations of technical requirements and to resolve related issues.
- Closely work with DAL managers and supervisors to ensure understanding and compliance with all project requirements.
- Assist the pipeline operations group with monitoring of existing pipeline systems and document on appropriate forms.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must understand the risks of pipeline construction and rehabilitation and continually take proactive measures to mitigate all safety and environmental hazards.
- Must be comfortable with computer applications such as Microsoft Office with a general understanding of computers and technology.
- Ability to work in a team environment, take directions from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.
- Well-balanced interpersonal skills and writing skills.
- Listens carefully and asks questions to understand views, concerns, and comments of others.
- Ability to read maps, pipeline surveys, drawings, mechanical flow sheets, spool drawings and all other design criteria.
- Ability to use mathematical skills including algebraic equations, fractions and volume metric measures for cost estimating and material take-offs.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Students recently graduated or expected 2024 graduates in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Chemical Engineering, Construction Management or related and equivalent experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.
- Operate personal computers for extended periods.
- Certain work tasks will require time spent in the outdoor elements on project sites and pipeline right-of-way or facilities.
