About the Job
The Long Beach, CA office of KPFF's Special Projects Group is seeking qualified Structural Engineers with Waterfront/Marine experience or an interest in designing Waterfront structures that are ready to take their career to the next level. The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to be directly involved in a wide variety of challenging projects including port industrial developments, ferry terminals, shipyards, fish & wildlife facilities, naval facilities, small boat marinas, municipal structures, floating structures, and design-build infrastructure. We are looking for self-motivated people who are eager to develop design and project management skills and who are passionate about providing exceptional client service.
Ideal Qualifications Include:
- Minimum of 5 years of structural design experience
- BS in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis)
- MS in Civil Engineering preferred (with a structural emphasis)
- SE preferred
- Concrete, steel, and timber design experience
- Pile design and bulkhead wall experience
- Pre-stressed concrete and seismic design experience
- Familiarity with performance-based seismic design, non-linear push-over analysis, and soil-structure interaction analysis
- Knowledge of ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS
- Proficiency in SAP2000, L-Pile, MS Excel, and VBA is preferred
- Ability to work dynamically with clients and project team members
- An interest in working on a wide variety of non-building related project types
KPFF's Special Projects Long Beach Office is located near the heart of downtown Long Beach, CA, and is a 17+ person part of a dynamic 120+ person group that provides planning, civil, structural, and mechanical engineering, machinery design, construction management, and project management. We provide these services on a wide range of project types through all stages of development. Our work generally leans toward heavy civil and industrial infrastructure throughout the US West Coast and requires us to solve unusual challenges frequently with non-codified solutions.
