Responsible for supervising product programs, as well as new product
engineers and CAD designers.
Essential Functions
Supervises new product programs utilizing the Product Planning and
Development Procedure. Directly supervises the efforts of new product
engineers and CAD designers.
Designs, validates, provides test reports and sign-off documents, and
ensures production readiness for new products.
Provides effective coordination with CAD, FEA, and laboratory activities
relative to priorities and specific directions on new products.
Coordinates the technical design and test aspects of new product
programs with suppliers and customers.
Provides continuous improvement through employee development, process
improvement and elimination of waste. Helps to assure safety in the
office and laboratory.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training
Bachelor of Science degree in technical discipline required.
BSME/BSAgE/BS AeroE preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
7 years of experience in vehicle structural design (preferable heavy or
medium duty truck) with exposure to dynamic structural analysis, finite
element analysis, fatigue analysis, and product design.
Demonstrated product innovation.
Electrical or brake experience a plus.
Project management experience required.
Exposure to or training in vehicle dynamics desirable.
Vibration and controls background desirable.
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting and working at computer for extended periods of time.
Occasional standing and walking on concrete.
Occasional climbing stairs and fixed/vertical ladder.
Ability to lift and carry up to 60lbs.
Ability to push/pull carts (minimal 25lbs) and parts (minimal 60lbs).
Ability to drive as required.
Ability to travel as required.
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to R&D lab and manufacturing setting.
Behavioral Traits
Demonstrated ability to manage major development projects and meet
deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to manage people.
