About the Job
The Engineering Supervisor will oversee performance management for their team, ensuring safety, budget adherence, and compliance. They will also be responsible for the technical training and development of the engineering team. This position has engineering supervision responsibility for the Oakley and Newnan Headquarters. Candidate must live in or relocate to a reasonable commute distance.
This role includes managing on-call duties and providing leadership for all distribution-related activities, including daily scheduling coordination. The Engineering Supervisor will collaborate closely with corporate partners and regional teams to maximize effectiveness. Additionally, they will participate in and lead region-wide initiatives, projects, and committees.
A strong understanding of Georgia Power’s business and strategic direction is essential, as is the ability to clearly communicate this information to employees. The role requires attendance at out-of-town meetings and leadership in after-hours power restoration efforts, including participation in the on-call rotation. The Engineering Supervisor will also lead Jonesboro Storm Teams for both Southern Company System and off-system storm restoration efforts.
The Engineering Supervisor (will report directly to the Distribution Manager and will be responsible for leading Georgia Power’s engineering efforts and long-term service and reliability strategy in the area. Key responsibilities include:
+ Engineering design, construction, and maintenance
+ Compliance and managing manpower resources
+ Reviewing job estimates and asset management
+ Safety leadership and emergency service restoration
+ Budget management
Job Experience and Education
+ Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred
+ Prior supervisory experience required
+ Four or more years Transmission/Distribution Engineering experience is required with a minimum of two years of Region Distribution experience.
+ Experience working as a Distribution Engineer is preferred.
+ Demonstrated leadership with proven results developing employees
+ Previous leadership experience in SERP restoration efforts is required
+ Professional Engineer Certification a plus
+ Experience managing both O&M and capital budgets is preferred
+ Other valuable experience includes working with the IBEW contract, knowledge of transmission and substation operations, knowledge of Section "0", system design experience, serving on committees at the statewide level, knowledge of sales and economic development, managing employees' safety, and understanding business office processes and procedures
+ Previous experience in presenting large and complex projects before the DPRT is highly desired
+ Previous experience leading teams in multiple work locations preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Proven experience in building strong teams and ability to handle difficult situations is required; ability to work in a matrix type organization is required
+ Individual must be able to provide leadership and direction to employees to ensure all functional areas work together as an effective team to serve the customer; total commitment to safety excellence; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal with media and external publics; demonstrated leadership abilities; project management skills; a proven ability to multi-task and manage complex projects; and skills related to team building and managing relationships are required. An understanding of leadership fundamentals and diversity management also is required
+ The position requires an in-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems. Ability to act as a technical specialist is required
+ Broad understanding of the company's operations, policies, and procedures
+ Working knowledge of TCMS, ARCOS, CSS, JETS, and strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Products is highly desired
+ Knowledge of NESC requirements is highly desired
