JOB TITLE: Engineering Technician, Field II
DISCIPLINE/MARKET/GROUP: All Disciplines
Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for collecting and compiling field data. This position will review, analyze and summarize recorded and collected data and report the data to other engineering personnel.
Essential Functions: Performs field testing/data collection for sewer systems, water systems, stormwater systems and natural waterways to include manhole investigations, smoke tests, dye tests, flow monitoring, fire flow tests, loss of head tests, pressure tests, water quality monitoring, and stage monitoring, and rainfall monitoring. Records field data in electronic data collector or converts field notes, records, and sketches into electronic format to describe and certify work performed. Takes digital photographs to document field conditions. Maintains field equipment and company vehicle and reports repair needs as necessary. Responsible for following project quality control and quality assurance processes. Develops and documents standard practices and coaches and mentors other team members in skill development areas. Answers questions from office engineering personnel about data collected in the field and collection methods. Collect samples and send to laboratory for testing. Responsible for setting up software package used for data collection for each project. Follow Woolpert safety procedures at all times.
CCTV Operator Functions: Performs push-camera CCTV and small diameter sanitary sewer cleaning assignments. Operate a CCTV truck and Jet-Vac truck. Assisting the field Crew Chief with performing field testing/data collection.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Must be able to read, write and interpret reports, business correspondence and procedural documentation.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and apply to practical situations.
- Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
- Must have understanding of GIS principles. Experience with GIS software is preferred.
- Must be able to travel overnight occasionally and work in different locations.
- Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record, as required by our insurance company.
- Must have an AA/AS or two (2) years related experience.
Resulting Physical Qualifications:
- Must be able to frequently lift and move more than 100 pounds.
- Must be able to frequently travel overnight and work overtime as needed.
- Must be able to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Must be able to frequently reach with hands and arms and climb.
- Must have vision abilities of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
