Job Overview:The Engineering Technician V performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. The work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements as required.
Pay rate: $51.02 /hourly
Work Model: Onsite/Office-Based
Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Manage testing requirements, to include, but not limited to: NETA Breaker Testing, Building Ground Testing, Lighting Protection Testing, Annual Fire Alarm Testing, Fire Suppression/Protection Testing, and smoke detection/air sampling. Review results and address deficiencies.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Electrical and Fire Protection project work, i.e. meet deliverables and objectives, generate punch lists, develop scopes of work, collaborate with customer and contractors, identify root cause, dispute claims resolution.
- Review job plans and operating procedures for accuracy. Incumbent will facilitate communication and activities related to correcting deficiencies that do not align with manufacturer and industry standards/recommendations for effective equipment life expectancy.
- Generate and facilitate Requests for Information (RFI) to clarify and correct electrical and fire protection systems processes/procedures/work.
- Assist to develop electrical and fire protection field training program. Consistently and effectively train, teach, and mentor field technicians in all areas of electrical and fire protection.
- Conduct root cause analysis and provide training as warranted.
- Provides and executes standards and criteria for specialized, difficult, or unusual requirements.
- Maintain membership on engineering boards and act as the technical representative.
- Coordinate projects with other disciplines. Applies knowledge of other disciplines to determine coordination effort required to address various design considerations.
- Maintains current knowledge of emerging technologies for program development.
- Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Observes that federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and environment are strictly adhered to in the programming, design, and construction of real property facilities.
- May occasionally be required to operate Government or Company owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Supports other department staff as needed or directed.
- Ability to work overtime and adjusted work schedules as warranted for workload and projects.
Mandatory:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Electrical and/or Fire protection Journeyman license or professional engineering license in an electrical discipline.
- At least seven (7) years of experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education and experience in the fields of electrical and fire protection.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Possess a valid and acceptable driver’s license/record.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
