Engineering Technician (extruder) - Tekni-plex

To provide technical support for the Extruders, lead efforts on Extruder PM’s. Analyze the health and condition and make recommendations for repairs/upgrades/rebuilds & spare parts of Extruders (Heads/Dies). Act as a Best Practices Champion across all extruders and shifts to communicate best practices and train operating associates on proper equipment set-up. To over-all increase the reliability of the Extruders.

Skills/Knowledge Preferred

• Knowledge mechanical systems
• Strong knowledge of the extruding process
• Computer skills to include, Lotus Notes, Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Ability to work and think independently and work as a team member.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills and good ability to prioritize.
• Good communication skills

• Adhere to all company safety/ health rules.

Responsibilities

• Carriage Maintenance
• Doctor Blade Assembly/Holder Maintenance
• Trim Knife Maintenance
• Station Maintenance
• Die PM’s/Cleaning
• Spare roll set-up with bearings & rotary unions
• Manage spare parts stocked at machine
• Pump maintenance
• Shaft maintenance
• Analyze and trouble shoot machine issues
• Train operating associates on proper equipment set-up
• Create standard work documents to assist operating associates
• Help with 5S
• Manage all rolls/idlers for all primary equipment
• The company maintains the right to revise and/or add duties in response to business needs

Experience/Education Requirements

• BS Engineering 3+ years flexible packaging/converting experience
• Two year technical certification with 5+ years flexible packaging/converting experience
• Non Degree: Minimum 10 years converting (coating/laminating) extrusion experience
