About the Job
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to provide Life Cycle Systems Safety support to the USAMMA executive team. The ideal candidate will have the education, experience, and accomplishments necessary to manage and interface medical devices, instruments, and systems safely and effectively in patient care environments. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply risk analysis, statistical data analysis, and safety engineering principles in collaboration with design engineering knowledge across electrical, electronic, chemical, mechanical, radiological, and industrial disciplines to advise on safety engineering and modifications.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, providing recommendations for modifications to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with biomedical equipment technicians on maintaining and supporting a comprehensive medical device maintenance program.
- Perform safety assessments required for material or system release and implement a Life Cycle System Safety Program for supported programs.
- Prepare formal reports detailing necessary modifications for compliance.
- Serve on system safety working groups as needed, contributing expertise on safety and engineering standards.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of risk analysis, statistical analysis, and safety engineering across electrical, electronic, chemical, mechanical, radiological, and industrial domains.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and hazard analysis specific to medical systems.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems, summarize findings, and make sound recommendations.
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition and life cycle management policies, engineering principles, and relevant safety standards.
- Familiarity with military medical systems and a deep understanding of engineering design, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Capability to develop and utilize data collection techniques effectively and perform comprehensive surveys and inspections.
- Experience analyzing software specifications and identifying potential system-level risks associated with software functions.
- Ability to assist in the acquisition and management of medical device inventory.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Valid certification from AAMI or ACCE, or equivalent certification.
- 7 to 9 years of experience in clinical engineering or at a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) Level III or IV.
- Practical experience in analyzing software specifications and identifying software functions with potential system-level risks.
- Fluency in completing safety analysis and risk assessment.
- Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Ability to provide documentation of authorization to work in the United States.
Work Environment
This role operates in a clinical or medical research environment, requiring collaboration with biomedical equipment technicians and engineering teams to ensure medical devices meet safety standards. The Engineering Technician will contribute to the overall safety and effectiveness of life cycle management and compliance efforts.
Physical Demands

Salary
The salary range is 75,000 annually to 90,000 annually.
Contract Length
Contract work is secured through May 15, 2025 with options for the government to extend.
