Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician IV to support installations, repairs, and maintenance of photolithography semiconductor equipment. This customer-facing role is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of semiconductor manufacturing technology, enabling pre-production innovations in a cutting-edge environment. The role requires flexibility with a compressed workweek schedule and full-time presence at assigned work locations. Initial training will be provided in Austin, Texas, or Hillsboro, Oregon, for 1-3 months.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and calibrate semiconductor manufacturing equipment according to factory specifications.
- Provide hands-on instruction to customers on operating and maintaining equipment.
- Act as a primary point of contact for assigned projects, including installations and major component replacements.
- Perform advanced repair and maintenance, independently troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
- Support customers by addressing technical questions and resolving operational issues.
- Document and report equipment performance issues, aiding in ongoing troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Provide training to customer personnel, ensuring they are proficient in equipment operation and maintenance.
- Collaborate with field technicians and engineers to resolve complex equipment issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (e.g., technical training, military experience, or technical school).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Proficiency with Linux operating systems for troubleshooting preferred.
- Strong mechanical skills and experience with electronic testing tools.
- Experience with optical, laser, software, robotics, or precision mechanical systems is advantageous.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer support experience is preferred.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in challenging conditions.
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment, wearing full cleanroom attire.
- Flexibility for travel, including domestic and potential international trips. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently; assistance may be available for heavier lifting.
- Substantial standing, walking, grasping, and operating equipment.
- Close visual acuity for reading, inspection, and working with small parts and precise measurements.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, chemicals, and lasers, with work often in enclosed or confined spaces.
