JOB TITLE: Engineering Technician
DEPT. NAME Manufacturing Engineering
PURPOSE OF JOB
Uses and applies industrial technical knowledge of production processes to improve product and process performance. Use and apply knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems and controls, manufacturing processes, and process flow, to aid in the development, qualification and release of new equipment, products and processes. Generate mechanical and electrical drawings and sketches. Lead and/or assist engineers to improve current products/processes, and integrate new products/processes into Manufacturing. Lead and/or assist in the execution of validation protocols. Direct work of manufacturing/facilities’ personnel during equipment and process qualifications. Conduct assigned product and equipment testing.
JOB OPERATION/ELEMENTS
Essential Job Duties:
- Lead and/or assist in the development of equipment and tooling from feasibility through transfer to manufacturing.
- Lead and/or assist in the installation and validation of new equipment and tooling.
- Conduct Motion Time Studies of manufacturing processes and operations as requested. Collects and communicates Time Studies’ related data,
- Evaluate and participate in the improvement of processes’ efficiency, and establishing of production rates’ standards.
- When required, assists with the performance of maintenance, production, clerical and other operations.
- Direct/oversee manufacturing employees during qualification/validation activities.
- Direct/oversee facilities employees during equipment installation.
- Conduct testing of products or processes for validation, efficiency or testing purposes.
- Assist with conducting protocols and generating of reports for engineering studies and validation qualifications based on data and information gathered through assigned projects.
- Lead and/or assist in tooling and product validation and/or qualifications.
- Generate sketches for fixtures and/or tooling components
- Build simple tooling and/or fixture components.
- Generate and/or modify, and release documentation for tooling, equipment and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
- Assist with the development of criteria for process and product validations, and/or qualifications.
- Lead product quality related investigations under the direction of the manufacturing engineering manager.
- Generate technical reports based on findings of engineering studies.
- Assist in projects involving new product or process development and transfer of processes to manufacturing.
- Assist in the development of methods for inspection of new or existing products by designing, documenting and implementing new fixtures/tools, and or measurement methods as needed.
- Assist in the generation of documentation, training and release of inspection methods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Performs clerical and data analysis where needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
An Associate Degree in engineering technology or related technician field or relative field experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Min 3 years’ experience, medical device experience preferred
- Preferred working knowledge Solidworks.
- Must be versed in a variety of industrial and mechanical concepts practices and procedures.
- Working knowledge of quality system requirements.
- Process qualification validation knowledge and experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
- Experience working in a production facility.
- Clean room environment a plus.
