Job Description
Job Title: Engineering Technician
Purpose of the Position: Under direct supervision from the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technician supports the engineering and production teams with design, development, and lifecycle of products
Essential job functions:
- Create and revise production unit part and assembly electro-mechanical drawings through the use of redlining or other means.
- Perform design analysis including tolerance analysis, tolerance stack up, and other engineering related tasks as required in support of design related activities.
- Process engineering change notices and enter Bill of Material information into the company ERP system.
- Take field measurements and make sketches to assist in answering design, fabrication, tool design, or installation questions.
- May be required to provide direction to team mates depending on skill level, expertise, and project requirements.
- Check detail drawings to assure compliance with industry engineering codes and drafting standards.
- Support design for manufacturability and continuous process improvement activities as they relate to product or processes within the company.
- Provide production support on all levels and all products.
- Ensure drawing compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Highly competent with PC hardware and software such as MS Office.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated understanding of weld design and welding processes.
- Strong problem solving and math skills.
- AS degree in a Manufacturing or Engineering discipline or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
- 50% office based and 50% shop.
