Overview
The Enrollment Outreach Coordinator is focused on direct community outreach efforts to provide information and education regarding the federal Health Insurance Marketplace and available health care safety net programs such as Medicaid and CHIP. The Enrollment Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing partnerships with community-based organizations, performing outreach and informing activities to uninsured and underserved populations, and providing in-person education about affordable health care coverage and referrals to LSCC program registration and comprehensive primary care services. The Enrollment Outreach Coordinator will also, as needed, provide in-person enrollment assistance.
Responsibilities
Daily Job Duties:
- Assists patients and community members in applying for health care coverage under the federal Health Insurance Marketplace and available health care safety net programs.
- Provides non-biased information regarding available coverage options and benefits
- Fills out or helps to fill out appropriate applications
- Assists in identifying and gathering appropriate documentation to accompany the application submission
- Follows-up to ensure external program application process is completed
- Verifies documents and information gathered telephonically by Program Advisors when patient presents for face-to-face appointment
- Provides assistance in a culturally/linguistically appropriate manner
- Completes all documentation in a timely, accurate and professional
- Using Medicaider, NextGen, available insurance verification programs and other automated tools, maintains all patient documentation necessary to complete assignments
- Completes case documentation electronically and maintains no paper files on cases
- Maintains appropriate electronic flags for timely follow-up with patients
- Ensures documentation sufficient to ensure coordination of care and program follow-up
- All other duties as assigned
Community Outreach:
- Develops and maintains community-based partnerships among organizations serving uninsured and underserved
- Network and collaborate with community-based organizations
- Act as a LSCC representative at community meetings and events
- Provides direct community outreach regarding the federal Health Insurance Marketplace and available health care safety net programs such as Medicaid and CHIP.
- Identify strategic populations and key community activities for outreach opportunities
- Provides non-biased information regarding available coverage options and benefits
- Provide direct, face-to-face outreach with targeted community members
- Collaborate with Communications Team on outreach needs and strategic opportunities
- Develop, organize, and participate in community meetings and outreach events
- Develop and distribute outreach materials
Compliance:
- Completes required training to perform accurate application enrollment assistance
- Acquires and maintains knowledge and expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications of the Federal Marketplace and other programs such as Medicaid and CHIP
- Attend all required training to provide outreach and screening and enrollment assistance
- Obtain training certifications as applicable
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum two (2) years public health experience
- Experience identifying community needs and working with community members of diverse backgrounds
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:
- Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field
- Previous community organizing experience
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills
