The Director will work closely with GDIT senior leadership, divisions, and functional areas to ideate, incubate, and implement innovations that align with the company’s long-term goals. The selected candidate must possess the needed technical and data expertise to lead this organization.
HOW AN ENTERPRISE INNOVATION DIRECTOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Lead a team of geographically dispersed professionals who will have responsibilities for prototyping and deploying solutions for the enterprise; Areas of expertise will include applied mathematics & statistics, machine learning operations, data engineering, software development, modelling & simulations
- Develop and execute a forward-looking innovation strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and business objectives
- Identify emerging trends, disruptive technologies, and new business models that can drive growth and improve operational efficiency
- Foster a culture of innovation across all levels of the organization, encouraging creative problem-solving and risk-taking
- Lead cross-functional teams in the development and execution of high-impact innovation projects while ensuring they meet key performance metrics
- Manage the full innovation lifecycle—from ideation and prototyping to pilot testing and full-scale implementation
- Drive collaboration with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to bring innovative ideas to fruition
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including startups, universities, incubators, and industry experts, to source new ideas and technologies
- Continuously evaluate the success and impact of innovation projects, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and approaches
- Train and mentor employees to think creatively and to embrace new ways of performing duties
- Manages and performs special projects and other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Innovation Management or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in innovation, business development and strategic leadership roles required.
- Required Experience: 6+ years of experience in innovation, business development and strategic leadership roles

- Preferred Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing technical and data management teams. Proven track record of successfully leading innovative projects from conception to implementation. Strong understanding of emerging technologies, industry trends, and innovation methodologies. Ability to identify opportunities for innovation and convert them into actionable implementation plans. Have strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and navigate complex organizational structures. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders. Experience with taking risks and challenging the status quo to drive innovation and growth
- Location: This position will require working at our GDIT facility in Falls Church, VA. Must be comfortable working onsite 3 days a week.

The likely salary range for this position is $154,960 - $178,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
