A member of the IT Enterprise Services team, with strong technical understanding of tools and techniques used to monitor the health and well-being of our growing IT infrastructure. This position will administer, maintain and evolve our Enterprise Monitoring (EM) suite of tools within our internal IT Enterprise Services division. The EM tool suite provides systems monitoring covering infrastructure components such as data center, servers (Linux/Windows), network equipment and appliances, storage, databases and applications.
In addition this person will perform various IT Service Management administrative functions such as: work with the business to design and build workflows in vFire (formerly called VMware Service Manager), assist with day to day operations such as account access, troubleshooting end user issues, and reviewing/evaluating requests for enhancements for future development cycles.
Successful candidates will have several years of experience with Enterprise Monitoring design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance in a fast paced environment; work within the EM team to maintain the enterprise system management monitoring tools; and coordinate with the infrastructure teams, service managers, and Managed Service Providers to maintain and evolve the process.
Ideally, they would also possess previous IT Service Management tool administration expertise with tools (Remedy, Alemba vFire, ServiceNow, etc). Current Commercial off the shelf tools include: EMC Smarts suite (Smarts SAM v9.3, AM-PM, ESM and Watch4Net), xMatter's Alarmpoint, Microsofts System Center Operations Manager (SCOM v2012), EMCs Storage Resource Management (SRM v3.7), Splunk Enterprise v6.2.1 and AppDynamics v4.1.8.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Drive the day to day management tasks in the Enterprise Monitoring environment
Collaborate with various internal technical teams to manage, deploy and upgrade the EM environment
Respond to and manage EM trouble tickets
Ensure proper monitoring, alarming, and notification of all EM generated events
Analyze processes, identify weaknesses, develop and implement improvements
Create, maintain and update EM infrastructure documentation and SOPs
On-call 24x7; ability to work and perform tasks during non- business hours and holidays
Assist with IT Service Management development
Document technical, and business requirements as well as implementation and test plans
Experience Requirements:
BS in technical field or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise class EM environment, preferably in a global, multi-datacenter environment using network and OS management tools
Maturity, poise, and confidence in the face of adversity
Experience with ITSM Platforms (Alemba vFire preferred)
ITIL v3 Foundations Certified, including strong working knowledge with ITIL processes (Configuration Management, Incident, Problem, etc.)
Proficient with MS Office, MS Project and MS Visio-Technical
Good working knowledge of a variety of technology platforms and tools including: Microsoft Windows servers, Linux, Oracle, SQL Server, SNMP, TCP/IP, VPNs, LAN/WAN technologies and architectures.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Good presentation, negotiation, and communication skills reflecting the ability to provide constructive analytical critiques and recommendations to a variety of audiences.
Good analytic ability, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively with technical staff.
Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities on a daily basis, often under pressure.
