A leading global investment firm seeks an experienced Operational Risk Incident Manager to join its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Overview
The Enterprise Risk Management function plays a vital role in ensuring the firm achieves its strategic goals while maintaining operational efficiency. The team is responsible for identifying and managing risks across the organization’s various functions, reporting on risk trends, and working to mitigate risks that could affect the firm’s operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and monitoring risks across business units.
- Assessing and measuring control gaps and recommending enhancements.
- Aggregating and reporting risk data to support decision-making.
The team specializes in operational risk management, partnering closely with business units to manage operational risk incidents.
Position Overview
The Operational Risk Incident Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of operational risk incidents, from detection and investigation to resolution and mitigation. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure incidents are effectively managed, root causes are identified, and corrective actions are taken.
The Operational Risk Incident Manager will report to senior leadership and work with key stakeholders to align risk management practices with the firm’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Incident Management:
- Lead the response to operational risk incidents, ensuring that incidents are recorded, investigated, and resolved efficiently.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to minimize the impact of incidents and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
- Maintain a log of operational risk incidents, ensuring they are documented in compliance with internal policies.
Incident Investigation:
- Conduct thorough investigations into operational risk incidents, analyzing causes and identifying corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing incident findings, root causes, and recommended actions.
Risk Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze incident data to identify recurring risk patterns and vulnerabilities.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on incident trends, root causes, and the effectiveness of mitigation strategies.
- Escalate significant incidents to senior management and relevant departments when necessary.
Mitigation and Follow-Up:
- Ensure corrective actions arising from incident investigations are effectively implemented and monitored.
- Assess the effectiveness of mitigation efforts and propose further improvements if needed.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to verify the success of corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance incident management processes and risk controls based on lessons learned from past incidents.
- Update policies, procedures, and guidelines to reflect best practices in risk management.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver training on incident reporting and operational risk management.
- Raise awareness of operational risks across the organization and encourage timely incident reporting.
- Provide guidance and support to business units on risk management best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in operational risk management, ideally within the financial services industry or asset management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in risk management tools and data analysis (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python).
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III, SOX) and industry standards.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
