Job Description
The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist for employment with the EHS Department in the Charlotte, North Carolina office.
The successful candidate will have enough experience to be able to independently conduct field work and prepare the associated reports for a wide variety of building hazardous material projects/surveys. The position will require that the candidate be available to perform work in both the field and office and be able to travel out-of-town for durations ranging from one week to three months, as needed.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
+ Environmental/Property Due Diligence (Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), limited environmental compliance reviews (LECRs), health and safety assessments.
+ Building surveys for potential hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, mold, poly-chlorinated biphenyls [PCBs])
+ Subsurface assessment of potentially contaminated media (soil, groundwater, soil gas)
+ Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Audits.
+ Coordination and preparation of written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums and analysis of data and development of supported conclusions.
+ Environmental fieldwork possibly including drilling, well installation, aquifer testing, as well as collecting soil, groundwater, and remediation system data.
+ Preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation (text, tables, figures, and calculations)
+ Perform independent hands-on fieldwork, oversee contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors), and other field personnel, and interact with clients/client representatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelors degree in Environmental and Earth Sciences.
+ Due to the nature of work, US citizenship required.
Preferred Requirements
+ Ability to interact with architects and engineers on fast-paced building renovation designs requiring the development of asbestos/building hazardous materials. program requirements, drawings, specifications, and design narratives.
+ EHS regulatory compliance planning, training and/or permitting (spill prevention, stormwater pollution prevention, emergency action planning, risk management planning, process safety management, etc.).
+ Project management experience related to asbestos and other hazmat projects.
+ Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.
+ Must have the required skills to perform field surveys independently with minimal supervision, as well as to be able to produce the written deliverable in the office.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $45,000.00 - $64,000.00.
