S&ME is seeking a motivated and passionate entry-level Geologist to join our Energy team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Are you ready to contribute your education and knowledge to meaningful projects? Join us at S&ME!

As an entry-level Geologist, you will work under the supervision of a Licensed Geologist. You will support various civil, geotechnical, and environmental projects for Energy, Industrial, and Government clients including power plants, landfills, mining, stormwater management, erosion control, stream stabilization projects, dams, and pipelines. Assignments may be varied between service areas to provide exposure to a wide range of S&ME's capabilities and services.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Field and Office Project Support: Performing field and office work associated with hydrogeological investigations; environmental evaluations and sampling; and other project support.
  • Field work will include drilling of soil borings; installation of monitor wells; classification of soil and rock; in-situ permeability testing; soil, groundwater, and gas sampling for chemical analysis
  • Office work will include preparation of data tables; graphical presentation of data; comparison of soil and groundwater data to State and Federal regulatory standards; and report preparation.
• Inspection and Communication: Perform Construction and Environmental inspections, and communication with vendors, as well as internal and external clients.

What You Bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related field
• 0-3 years of Geology experience
• Geologist in Training (GIT) certification, a plus
• The eligibility to obtain the Professional Geologist (PG) license within 4-5 years
• Well-organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
• Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
