Job Summary:
Associate Laboratory Technician: Works closely with more experienced technicians and professionals while learning laboratory test methods associated with construction materials. Learns electronic reporting software and where to find testing requirements. Responsible for equipment maintenance and cleanliness, while learning and assisting with calibrations.
Testing and Reporting: Perform and report findings of soil, concrete, masonry and/or asphalt testing in the laboratory under direct observation of more experienced technicians and/or professionals
Equipment: Maintain equipment in a clean and functioning manner.
Laboratory Technician I: Performs routine laboratory testing of construction materials under the observation of more experienced technicians and professionals. Responsible for reporting test results in a logical and complete manner, after review by others. Responsible for equipment maintenance and cleanliness, while assisting with calibrations.
Testing and Reporting: Perform and report findings of soil, concrete, masonry and/or asphalt testing in the laboratory
Equipment: Maintain equipment in a clean and functioning manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED
- Associate Construction Engineering Tech:
- 0-2 years of experience in a construction materials laboratory
- Effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
- Laboratory Technician I:
- 3+ months of experience in a construction materials laboratory
- One(1) or more active certifications:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
- International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
- DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
- Effective math skills with a strong understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- Proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Standing up to 8-12 hours a day
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
