Our manufacturing facilities are located in Orangeville, IL and Big Bend, WI. Our Innovation Center is located in Evanston, IL.
JOB PURPOSE: The Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in our food manufacturing plant, responsible for the end-to-end procurement process. This role involves meticulously sourcing, purchasing, and overseeing the timely delivery of all raw materials and supplies essential for our production operations. The specialist will diligently balance cost efficiency with our uncompromising quality standards, ensuring seamless continuity in our manufacturing processes.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Strategic planning, sales planning, collaborating with others:
- Support Director of Service and Sourcing and Purchasing Manager in overseeing of all raw materials and supplies.
- Source and procure raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and supplies required for production operations.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable payment conditions.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality standards, delivery times, and adherence to contract terms.
- Collaborate with production, quality control, and scheduler to forecast demand and ensure timely availability of materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage stock levels to avoid shortages or overstock situations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels.
- Stay informed about market trends, new materials, and alternative suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Resolve supplier issues and disputes promptly and professionally.
- Handle any additional tasks or projects that may arise to support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement function
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist, Procurement Officer, or similar role in the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and purchasing software.
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
