The Program Coordinator II reports to the Manager of Environment of Care. Under indirect supervision, the Program Coordinator II oversees the Environment of Care survey at MUSC- Orangeburg, the future Nexton hospital, and Ambulatory work settings including coordinating all aspects of the Environment of Care program for Charleston (Orangeburg) Division, including the Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Fire and Life Safety, Medical Equipment, and Utilities programs of the Environment of Care. Assists the EOC Manager in developing, monitoring, implementing, and improving MUSC- Orangeburg’s general safety, and procedures to help maintain and promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees. Also, assists the EOC Manager in evaluating, inspecting, and surveying areas and activities to minimize potential risks. Provides training and education to departments and services within the organization in achieving regulatory|accreditation compliance with the Physical Environment (PE). Collaborates with the EOC Manager in developing and implementing processes to comply with regulatory standards.

Job Description

This position coordinates and documents internal regulatory processes, such as internal audits, inspections, license renewals, or registrations. Coordinate the Environment of Care and Safety programs for the Charleston Division to ensure patient and caregiver safety and adherence to all federal and state rules and regulations.
Coordinate with the EOC Manager to develop program goals and objectives to ensure the EOC program is aligned with best practices and supports the health system’s strategy, mission, and vision.
Manages data collection, analysis, and reporting for all Environment of Care programs. Presents data to caregivers, leaders, and executives to inform teams of safety hazards and progress toward mitigation.
Implements and manages all organizational safety directives and goals.
Partner and collaborate with the University Risk Management team to maintain policy, staff training, and educational content related to hazardous materials and waste for the Division.
Manages Environment of Care rounds at division campuses/ambulatory clinic buildings. Maintains a schedule to ensure rounds are conducted in all areas where patients are served and once per year in areas where patients are not served. Ensures that leaders are aware and supported in addressing gaps in EOC rounds.
Coordinates and monitors improvement activities related to the Environment of Care. Conducts regular risk assessments, develops action plans, and evaluates effectiveness. Provides EOC leadership updates on the EOC program and improvement activities to address gaps.
Collaborates with Materials Management and Bio-Med departments to manage the product recall process.
Collaborates with Facilities, Patient Care Team, Infection Prevention, Supply Chain, and other key departments to ensure EOC and safety standards are implemented, trained, and followed.
Performs safety-related training for leadership teams as well as front-line caregivers as requested, including general hazard awareness, specific use of personal protective equipment, and fire response.
Coordinates and monitors Hazardous Materials Management programs such as the OSHA Hazcom Standard, Medical Waste Disposal, Spill Response Plans, and Hazardous Waste Generation in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. 
Performs the safety components of the Pre-Construction Risk Assessment (PCRA) for all construction and renovation projects. Monitors compliance with Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) and serves as a resource for staff training when construction projects create building safety deficiencies.
Oversees fire and life safety processes in partnership with facilities including coordination of fire drills, equipment inspections (extinguishers, strobes, alarms, etc.), training, and post-incident debriefs. Monitors life safety preventative maintenance activities for compliance (through the TMS system).
Collaborates with the Bio-Medical Services team to ensure medical equipment is inspected, tested, and maintained for safe patient & caregiver use.
Monitors all facilities for compliance with Joint Commission / OSHA / NFPA and other regulatory standards. Escalates concerns to the Director of Safety and campus leadership.
Team with Facilities partners to ensure safety training, including the “Above Ceiling Work Permit,” and, ILSM. Monitors for compliance with the measures that are implemented.
Collaborates with Facilities Managers on all aspects of the EOC plan that affect the physical plant. Coordinates utility management activities through their involvement with the EOC Committee.
Have extensive knowledge of TJC and other governing bodies' workplace violence standards including providing evidence-based solutions to a myriad of scenarios experienced. By an integral member of the workplace violence committee. 

Requirements 
A bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant program experience are required. Master’s degree and four (4) years of administrative, management, or professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of administrative or management experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), National Fire Protection Association Codes, International Building Codes, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) programs, inspections, processes standards, and regulations are desirable. In addition, statistical and data analysis skills are essential. Must be knowledgeable and able to exercise judgment and initiative. Ability to perform job functions while sitting and standing|walking for extended periods.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Work Experience: 5 years for support or 2 years for professional
