Job Overview:
APTIM Tampa, Florida office is seeking a Junior Environmental Geologist to join our team of engineers, scientists, and technicians who are passionately committed to safely solving our clients' environmental concerns. The qualified candidate will be a hands-on field geologist who is dedicated to completing assigned tasks with precision and accuracy, both in terms of physical duties and documentation. The Environmental Geologist is a professional position providing support for a range of environmental and infrastructure projects funded by private and government clients. The candidate will perform a variety of field and office work that includes collection of soil, water, and other environmental media samples for laboratory analysis; installation of soil borings and monitor wells; remedial system installation and operation, and completion of environmental compliance inspection and support activities. Work will include primarily field tasks, but also office tasks necessary to complete environmental assessment, remediation and infrastructure projects. The work mix initially is expected to be 80% field and 20% office.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
+ Provides technical support to clients in a variety of work scopes including but not limited to: environmental site characterization, monitoring, permitting, regulatory reporting, Phase I and Phase II due diligence, and residential and commercial construction.
+ Collects and interprets soil, groundwater, and air sample analytical data.
+ Oversees and manages field events such as well drilling, soil and groundwater sampling, etc., and associated field activities.
+ Executes field work, maintains project schedule and budgetary goals, and supervises contractors.
+ Work will often involve use of instrumentation or equipment and may include the installation, calibration and/or maintenance of equipment or instrumentation associated with a particular job site.
+ Conducts work independently or as part of a project team and can adapt to rapidly changing site conditions or client requirements.
+ Adheres to established health and safety policies and procedures and executes work in a safe and conscientious manner.
+ Conducts Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations in accordance with ASTM Standards and client requirements.
+ Supports environmental permitting and permit compliance projects.
+ Drafts technical documents for regulatory agencies and private clients.
+ Understands technical concepts, evaluation of results, plans, reports, and ensures conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.
+ Manages schedule and balances multiple priorities to meet project targets and timelines.
+ Utilizes best practices and knowledge of internal and external business systems to improve products or services as a collaborative member of the APTIM team.
+ Duties may also include overlap with APTIM's industrial hygiene group including inspections, assessment and sampling for asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air, and other materials/chemicals.
Basic Qualifications:
+ BS degree in Geology.
+ 0 - 5 years work experience in the field, primarily related to environmental services including site assessments, well/soil boring installations, property transfer due diligence, environmental permit sampling, compliance inspections, and supervising contractors.
+ 0 -- 5 years of experience in the office preparing text, tables, figures, field documentation and design drawings and calculations for environmental reports. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint
+ Knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations is a plus.
+ Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple activities on an on-going basis by given deadline.
+ Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle.
+ Able to lift up to 50 pounds
+ The following certifications are a plus: 40-hour OSHA-HAZWOPER training, Licensed Asbestos Inspector; Asbestos Project Monitor; Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Indoor Air Quality Training.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience working in Florida geologic environments.
+ Experience with Chapters 62-780 and 62-777, Florida Administrative Code
