The Manager, EH&S is responsible for managing the development and consistent implementation of safety, security, and environmental compliance programs at the site level.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To develop, implement, coordinate, and monitor employee safety programs aimed at prevention and early intervention. Provide Leadership for strategic safety initiatives. Areas of responsibility include regulatory compliance in ESH, ergonomics, worksite safety practices, workers compensation and safety documentation.
Maintain reporting and recordkeeping requirements for all EPA and OSHA regulatory requirements.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state legislation; recommend mitigation as necessary and determine methods for improved accident and loss prevention. Ensure compliance with ADA, EPA, OSHA, and other related areas.
- Enhance/improve the welfare of employees and the organization through education, behavioral change, cultural support, and the continual process of safety improvement in a quality, cost effective manner. Work effectively with site leadership to make positive changes.
- Reduce the incidence of site illness/injury by developing and implementing aggressive, proactive educational and intervention programs such behavioral safety, ergonomics, etc. Conduct/facilitate training seminars to provide employees with information regarding safe working practices and accident prevention methods.
- Demonstrate the positive financial impact of focusing on safety prevention in selected key organizational indicators, i.e. insurance experience rates, workers comp. costs, lost workdays, etc.
- Ensure proper coordination of all element’s workers compensation, with the focus on employees returning to work programs; including claims analysis and settlement recommendations; review and verify all medical, legal investigative and rehabilitation reports.
- Prepare statistical reports/ documentation on employee injuries and accidents as requested or required. Review investigation reports and take appropriate actions; develop strategies to prevent future recurrences.
- Initiate and coordinated required annual medical screening programs according to OSHA requirements and T5 policy.
- Liaise with the Directorial Leadership
- Track and Monitor Technicians progress in the CET program
- Coordinate the assignment and track completion of all safety training
- Track all employees’ individual trade licenses
- Develop training reports to show the following o Training KPIs o Site CET levels o Training progress o Training delinquencies
- Licenses
- Recertification dates of CET Training or Licenses
- Work with vendors to obtain best pricing for additional training
- Engage equipment OEMs for vendor provided training
- Develop additional training programs for account as required
- Communicate Account and Company Lessons Learned
- All other tasks as assigned by the Account Director
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience, required
- 5+ years of EH&S compliance experience, required
- 2+ years of managerial experience leading teams, required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES
- Thorough understanding of EPA, OSHA, NFPA 70e and state regulations.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees to achieve long term vision while adjusting to daily challenges.
- Ability to challenge, explain, and defend safety programs with diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills with high level of attention to detail.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills and ability to coach and train others.
