About the Job
The Corporate Health, Safety, and Security Specialist will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and programs that promote a safe and secure work environment across all our locations. This position requires a strategic thinker with a proactive approach to safety management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety, coupled with a passion for fostering a culture of safety and responsibility within the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Job is an individual contributor and has no direct reports.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety and security programs and initiatives.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections across various locations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Serve as a point of contact for health and safety matters across the company.
- Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to integrate safety and security considerations into daily operations.
- Travel to company locations in the Chicago land area, Utah, California, and Iowa to implement and oversee safety programs (Travel required 25%). Illinois based.
- Stay informed on new legislation and advancements in safety and security technologies and trends, applying best practices to company policies and procedures.
- This role has the responsibility to understand and place in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite Products.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate staff.
- Proficiency in safety management systems and compliance tracking.
Education
- BA/BS or equivalent is required.
- Preferred certifications: Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
Work Environment
- Work is generally performed within a business professional office environment, with standard office equipment available.
- Work conditions are typical of an office environment.
- This role requires 30% domestic travel.
- Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 15 pounds
- Ability to travel 25% of the time to company locations in the Chicago land area, Utah, California, and Iowa.
- Position may require frequent and/or infrequent bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
- Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Less than 4 hours.
