- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline from an accredited institution
- 3-5 years' experience in environmental compliance for manufacturing operations
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Environmental permitting and compliance experience with concentrations in air, waste management and stormwater management.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State related regulations.
- Strong communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving and human relations skills.
- Critical skills include Execution, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, collaboration, building ownership and commitment, establishing and direction, drive for change, getting organization support and tenacity.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Full time, first shift. Occasional evening and weekend work required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting/Pushing/Pulling: Moderately Heavy - Limited to 40 pounds
- Standing/Walking: Moderate 40 - 60% or more of workday
- Bending/Twisting: Light 10% or more of workday
- Temperature Extremes (percent of time working in non-climate controlled, production environment): Moderate 40 - 60% of workday.
- Noise: Hearing protection always required in shop and on production floor

Major Activities and Key Challenges:
The primary focus of this position will be to drive and support environmental compliance and management activities for HWS Barberton Operations:
- Leads in the development and implementation of environmental policy and procedures.
- Work closely with site management and other members of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team
- Assess and monitor site compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations; works with plant personnel to ensure compliance.
- Updates existing written environmental programs as required to ensure compliance with Federal state and intercompany engineering standards.
- Define, obtain, and coordinate necessary environmental reports, permits, communications, and self-assessments.
- Act as lead contact person for plant with regulatory agencies interactions (inspections, permitting, reporting)
- Conducts environmental hazard assessments, identify gaps in performance, and recommend corrective action plans.
- Provides leadership of the plant's environmental programs during internal Environmental audits, including taking the role of the Single Point Accountable (SPAs) for multiple environmental programs
- Lead environmental sampling and assessment activities as required.
- Develops/revises and conducts environmental-related training sessions.
- Maintains records and documents as they pertain to the EHS Management System
- Adheres in full compliance with Company policies and procedures and conducts all activities in accordance with the Howmet's Code of Conduct
