JOB DESCRIPTION:
Overview: As a Remediation Environmental Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining environmental safety and compliance. This position offers the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and hazardous material management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consolidate, treat, store, transport, and dispose of hazardous waste.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Operate forklifts and mobile equipment to move containers and load/unload trailers.
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Conduct site assessments to identify environmental hazards and determine remediation actions.
- Operate heavy equipment, such as backhoes, excavators, and bulldozers, for site preparation and remediation activities.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of remediation equipment and systems.
- Monitor and record data related to remediation activities.
- Participate in emergency response activities, including spill containment and cleanup.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Provide training and guidance to new team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Act as a backup manager when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in environmental field services.
- Supervisory or management experience.
- Remediation experience.
- Experience using heavy equipment and machinery, such as backhoes, excavators, and bulldozers.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Capability to stand and walk over uneven surfaces for extended periods.
- Visual acuity to read labels and documentation; depth perception for operating forklifts.
- Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes and alarms.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled environments.
- Commitment to wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Reliable attendance with flexibility for variable schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer skills for web-based training.
- Proficiency in understanding and responding to written and verbal English instructions.
- Ability to interact politely and professionally with customers and coworkers.
