Maintain a clean, sanitized and safe attractive environment throughout the Medical Center for our patients, visitors, and employees. Interact and explain to patients the tasks performed. Answer or seek any questions from patients and visitors. Incorporate guest relation skills in all daily activities. Complete project work as assigned by leadership.

Responsibilities:Quality of Environment:
- Assists in moving furniture and patient beds as requested.
- Replenishes supplies including soap, towels, toilet tissue, and other disposable items.
- Able to operate and train others to operate cleaning equipment, such as, but not limited to, vacuum sweeper, auto scrubber, battery operated vacuum, and carpet extractor.
- Cleans vents, lights, walls, windows, mirrors, doors, including knobs, jambs and any hardware, fire extinguishers and telephones.
- Maintains carpets and hard surface flooring including scraping and refinishing.
- Collects all trash, bio-waste, recycling, chemo-waste, transports and dispossess in correct receptacle.
- Empties, clean, and relines trash receptacles.
- Sanitizes and spot cleans all horizontal surfaces, windows, and polished fixtures.
- Ensures patient/customer satisfaction with completed work.
- Follows assigned area work schedule flow, adjusting as needed to the daily operations of the hospital.
- Performs specialized or project cleaning as scheduled, and varying with assigned area.
- Stocking and replenishing of linens and scrub orders to par levels
- Must be responsible for job knowledge and abilities including understanding and applying policies and procedures, information received during orientation, on the job training and requests of leadership.
- Responsible for job quality and quantity including adherence to policies and procedures, accuracy, appearance of area and work completed.
- Direct and assist staff in assigning areas or project work in the absence of a leader
Departmental Work:
- Provides customer service to patients by responding to any questions or requests.
- Flexes workload to optimize efficiency.
- Works as part of a team and assists when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic UPH Performance Criteria
- Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste, and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:
