Your Impact
As Axon's Environmental Specialist it will be your mission to manage and reduce Axons environmental impact by mitigating unnecessary risks and building a culture where environmental, health, and safety are always top of mind. In an effort to Win Right you will also be responsible for policy development, training, implementation, and enforcement, ensuring all protocols are followed appropriately. The Environmental Specialist is a key role within Axon, supporting the growth of the company while maintaining compliance and effectively reducing environmental impact along the way.
What You'll Do
Location: Onsite at our Scottsdale, Arizona office
20%-70% Travel: Regular (multiple times a week) travel between the Arizona sites in the Phoenix Metro area
0%-20% Travel: Occasional (once or twice a year) national, or international travel
Reports to: Wayne Weyant, EHS Leader
- Manage Axons Environmental Management System, including compliance obligations, internal audits, external audits, and our ISO 14001 certification
- Manage US facility waste streams
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs
- Manage carbon emission reduction projects and other sustainability initiatives
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines, or processes that effect Axons impact on the environment in the US, including travel reduction plans, TRI reporting, storm water permits, and air permits
- Maintain Hazcom program
- Ability to assist with WEEE and other governmental product and packaging disposal initiatives
- Ability to assist with PFAS regulations and reporting
- Spill & release response
- Vendor/Contract Management
- Work with management and their departments to determine best course of action for compliance enforcement and impact reduction
- Investigate incidents and prevent recurrence
- Maintain environmental metrics including waste quantities, compliance obligations, permit requirements, carbon emissions, etc.
- Analyze trends and identify opportunities for improvement
- Train employees on procedures and policies
What You Bring
- Five or more (5+) years of Industrial Environmental experience.
- Bachelors Degree in an environmental related field
- Required technical and analytical skills
- Project management
- Corporate program development, integration, and management
- Ability to adapt regulation to real world applications
- Problem solving
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations including EPA, RCRA, Maricopa County, WEEE, and GHG Protocol.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Current RCRA, DOT, and Hazwoper certifications or the ability to obtain them
- Ability to Join Forces with all levels of employees and any team through out the organization
- Ability to be customer facing
- Ability to think "outside the box" to develop unorthodox solutions
- Prior experience with ISO14001 certification and environmental management systems a strong plus.

- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull equipment up to 75 lbs.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 63,450 in the lowest geographic market and USD 101,520 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
