Under general supervision or independently work to perform routine and frequent manual labor tasks. Tasks include consolidation, treatment, packaging, and transportation of hazardous waste in accordance with environmentally responsible and cost-effective practices and Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures. Job requires maintenance of records, accuracy and attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, work independently, and work as the senior or lead technician on projects often acting as a front-line leader.
- Be able to lift 50 lbs. routinely and frequently in the process of material handling.
- Be able to work 8 to 10-hour shifts that include outdoor weather work that is not climate controlled. This will include walking, standing, and carrying material throughout the shift.
- Be able to wear level C PPE for potentially the whole 8 to 10-hour shift which includes a Tyvek suit that will cover your torso, legs, and arms along with a full-face respirator. Be able to do manual labor while wearing that level C PPE for the entire shift.
- Be able to operate a forklift in tight conditions while paying close attentions to your surroundings.
- Be able to squat and work on uneven surfaces with hand tools such as shovels and pneumatic tools as jobs require for the entire shift.
- Be able and willing to travel out of town and stay overnight. This job will have rotating shift, required weekend work, and out of town work frequently.
- Be able to fill out manifests, bills of lading, and project paperwork accurately.
- Be able to sort and segregate chemicals based on DOT hazardous class and physical characteristics.
- Be able to lead projects as the senior team technician. This could include independent work or leading a team of junior technicians.
Starting rate of pay is $27.00.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Driver License with clean driving record
- 40-Hour Hazwoper with current 8-hour refresher (preferred)
- 3 plus years of hazardous waste experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years in fa hazardous waste field service environment
- Able to manage and oversee a large project/job with supervision of personnel.
- Must have advanced knowledge of facility permit, DOT packaging requirements and exempts as well as expanded knowledge of waste routing and disposal, Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations
