About the Job
The Epic Beaker Analyst is responsible for the design, build, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of the Epic Beaker Laboratory Information System. This role involves collaborating with clinical laboratory staff, IT teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that the Epic Beaker application optimally supports laboratory workflows and meets regulatory and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
Application Support
- Design, build, and configure the Epic Beaker module to meet laboratory needs.
- Ensure integration between Epic Beaker and other clinical systems (such as EMR systems, radiology, pharmacy, blood bank etc.).
- Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the smooth operation of the system.
- Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to laboratory operations.
Project Management
- Lead and/or participate in the planning, design, testing, and implementation of Epic Beaker in new facilities or departments.
- Assist in developing timelines and work plans for system enhancements, upgrades, or new implementations.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including test scripts, change control documents, and training materials.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with clinical laboratory staff, including pathologists, lab technicians, and other healthcare providers, to gather system requirements.
- Serve as the point of contact between the laboratory, IT teams, and Epic support teams to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding project progress and system performance.
- Partner with the clinical training team as needed to assist them in crafting tailored training plans for laboratory staff that emphasize Epic Beaker workflows and functionalities.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical area, computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration or equivalent work experience
- Epic certification within 6 months of hire, if applicable
Working Conditions
- Use of personal mobile phone and reliable home internet are required.
- Agreement to COA IT Remote Work Procedure required.
- Analyst positions in IT are fixed salary; work may be required outside normal, daytime business hours (i.e., on-call support, system implementations, emergency outages, etc.).
