EPIC Arts Clay Studio Ceramic Instructor
Classification: Part-time (Not benefits eligible), up to 20 hrs/week

Reports to: EPIC Arts Clay Studio Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
The EPIC Clay Studio Ceramic Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering engaging ceramic arts classes, workshops, and activities tailored to students with diverse skill levels. Working in alignment with established Clay Studio protocols and practices, the Ceramic Instructor will guide students through the artistic and ceramic processes through various techniques, skills and instruction. This position will be responsible for processing their students’ work. This position aims to enhance community engagement and involvement in the arts, while ensuring accessibility and inclusivity of Wyandotte County residents and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and submit ceramic classes to the EPIC Clay Studio Manager by deadlines. This includes providing details such as date, time,description,course content, required materials, etc.
• Deliver an agreed minimum number of classes per month, with a specific focus on engaging WyandotteCounty youth and families.
• Offer themed classes that expand beyond routineEPIC Clay offerings to enrich the community experience.
• Adhere to Clay Studio procedures for class preparationand clean-up, including tasks such as organizing tools and equipment, portioningmaterials, and maintaining studio cleanliness.
• Process students’ work including but not limited to trimming, glazing, firing, and packaging for pick-up, ensuring a seamless experience for participants.
• Participatein Clay Studio planning meetingswith the EPIC Clay Team for class scheduling, studio updates, and other pertinentdiscussions.
• Attendmonthly one-on-one meetingswith the CB&E Manager to provide and receive updates, progress reports, and feedback on work, ensuring alignment with organizationalgoals and objectives.
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Preferred experience teaching ceramics to diverse groups (children, families, adults).
• Preferred experience teaching one-day and multi-day beginner-friendly pottery wheel classes to diverse groups (children, families, adults).
• Proficiency in ceramic techniques: wheel-throwing, hand-building, glazing, firing.
• Studio operationsexperience: organizing materials, equipment handling, safety.
• Preferred knowledge of kiln operation.
• Strong communicationand interpersonal skills.
• Creativelesson planning ability.
• Organizationalskills for class planning and studio management.
• Collaborativework ethic.
