Keysight’s Precision Meso-scale Technology Center (PMTC) located in Colorado Springs, CO exists to provide precision machined components and assemblies that enable the capabilities of Keysight’s industry leading electronic measurement equipment. As Equipment Engineer you will collaborate with SME (Subject Matter Experts) to evaluate, purchase, install, and coordinate release of cutting-edge equipment to support precision machining, finishing and metrology operations critical to ensuring components meet Keysight’s exacting standards.
Job Duties
Our manufacturing facility has an opening for a self-motivated and results oriented equipment engineer to support our machining and wet process operations. This person will be responsible for project management for the end-to-end evaluation, installation, qualification, and deployment of capital equipment. The successful candidate will also be required to interface with multiple disciplines and management of cross functional discussions to ensure successful integration of equipment to meet on-going process requirements. This includes support of equipment options, software enhancement, IoT connectivity, and operations support by meeting and exceeding tool availability, capability, and defined metrics.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead PMTC Capital Equipment purchases with PMTC Process Engineering and Operations partners under the direction of PMTC Management.
- Partner with operations and process engineering to analyze equipment performance and optimize to improve capabilities.
- Identify opportunities and work to implement Industry 4.0/Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions to monitor and optimize equipment performance.
- Drive PM efficiency efforts and continuous improvements in tool performance, safety, quality, and cost control.
- Design and develop solutions and automation systems to upgrade aging hardware to extend useful tool life and improve equipment availability.
- Assist in defining gaps in current capability with recommendations for capital investment, and maintenance activity to maximize effectiveness of current equipment. This review encompasses all areas of PMTC Machine Shop (Turning, Milling, Laser Machining, Wire EDM, Chemical Milling, Plating, and precision component assembly).
- Maintain KPI (Key Performance Indicators) to share with management.
- Tool availability, capacity measures, PM Schedule adherence, and repair costs.
- Provide effective project management for extensive hardware rebuilds and maintenance activities.
- Partner with Equipment Maintenance and Process Engineering to facilitate written procedures on assigned equipment including installation, qualification, operation, and maintenance procedures.
- Partner with Equipment Maintenance to support detailed preventive maintenance documentation. Schedules will be maintained by equipment maintenance within existing equipment maintenance software.
- Requirement bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Preferred Master’s Degree or higher
- Required to have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Required to have strong electro-mechanical aptitude with demonstrated interest in manufacturing equipment.
- Required to have Project Management experience and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Required to have experience with production machining equipment.
- Preferred experience with 5-axis milling, Swiss Turning, Turn/Mill equipment, and advanced metrology.
- Preferred if have experience in root cause analysis, 6 Sigma, 5-why, 8D, or other investigation approach.
- Preferred if have experience with process design and development for implementation of efficient manufacturing.
- Line balance, capacity calculations, and value stream analysis.
- Lean initiatives, continuous improvement, and process development.
- Required to have experience with Microsoft Office Tools; Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Word.
- Preferred to also have Autocad, Solidworks, NX, and/or TeamCenter experience.
- Preferred to have experience operating in an ISO 9001, or AS9100 regulated production environment.

The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed below.
Colorado Pay Range: USD $89,000.00 - USD $149,000.00 Year
Note: For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region
