Equipment Maintenance Technician
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for inspecting, testing, and reviewing equipment and instruments for quality control and preventive maintenance programs. Performs safety tests of equipment to ensure staff safety. Performs preventive maintenance and repair and updates documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1st line of defense for troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and escalating issues to equipment or process engineers where appropriate.
Install modifications to existing equipment; Install or modify facilities systems supporting manufacturing tools.
Assemble, test, and install custom manufacturing tools and equipment; perform precise, detail-oriented mechanical assembly according to engineering drawings.
May install electrical components and cabinet wiring according to engineering drawings.
Assemble or modify ducting for air handling systems, piping for compressed air or other gases, piping for process cooling water.
Perform preventative maintenance on standard and custom equipment; record maintenance performed and assist with documenting solutions for common failures.
Work hands-on with roll-to-roll web handling and processing equipment, including rollers, drives, edge guides, brakes, and steering mechanisms.
Work closely with Equipment Engineers, Process Engineers, and Operators to meet equipment requirements and make improvements to existing systems.
Other duties as Assigned.

Experience/Education:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as an Equipment Technician, Mechanical/Electrical Technician, or similar experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex equipment safely and confidently.
Independent problem solver with a desire to learn new skills and develop new technology.
Ability to follow instructions, release documentation.
Able to adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced start-up setting.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to operate hand tools, fabrication experience a plus.
May need to have:
Experience with assembly and/or maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment.
Knowledge of engineering assembly drawings.
Knowledge of electrical schematics.
Experience with electrical cabinet wiring.
Experience with high-voltage electrical systems.
Experience with assembly and/or maintenance of roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment
Experience with the performance of preventative maintenance procedures.
Ability to modify engineering drawings to reflect as-built status.

Working Conditions/Hours:
Hourly; overtime and weekend work may be required.

This position requires the ability to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Requires lifting or moving of equipment or tools up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment – Office
Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and exposure to hazardous materials used in the manufacturing process.
PPE-
May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump-caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, & clean-room frocks while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures.
