About The Position
**Job Title:** Emergency Room Nurse **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room Nursing **Job Duration:** 13 Weeks **Shift:** 36 Hours (7 pm-7 am Shift) **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 per week **Experience:** Minimum 1 year **License:** Current RN MA License required **Certifications:** - AHA BLS required - ACLS to be obtained within 60 days of hire - AHA PALS required within six months of hire - TNCC, ENPC, and CEN are preferred **Must-Have:** - Minimum AS in nursing required; BS in nursing preferred - Three to five years of Emergency Department experience is preferred **Job Description:** - Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, care plans, and patient goals. - Provide patient care adhering to standards of care, protocols, and established policies and procedures. - Offer patient/family teaching based on assessed needs, readiness, and barriers to learning. - Collaborate in planning and preparing patient and family for discharge, involving necessary support systems/resources. - Delegate and supervise nursing tasks appropriately. - Prioritize patient care by recognizing needs for emergency intervention and seeking assistance or reassigning personnel accordingly. - Document all patient data and care interventions accurately and promptly. - Report on assigned patients to other healthcare team members to ensure service integration and continuity of care. - Engage in professional development and promote learning among colleagues. - Identify risks to patient safety and reduce medical errors through appropriate reporting. - Address ethical issues in care planning. - Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy following physician orders and protocols. - Assess and manage patient pain levels, documenting responses to medication. - Perform initial assessments upon patient arrival and implement triage protocols as needed. - Identify patients at risk for potential or alleged abuse, including fulfilling mandated reporting requirements. - Maintain knowledge and application of Disaster Policy and Procedures. - Implement plans for violent behavior risk and use non-violent intervention strategies. - Recognize and report abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results promptly to physicians. - Administer vasoactive medications, understanding their dosage and side effects. - Identify cardiac arrhythmias accurately and promptly. - Monitor and document thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy. - Manage intubated patients, including suctioning and weaning. - Interpret arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and other clinical signs of impaired gas exchange. - Conduct medication reconciliation documentation for Attending MD review. - Implement components of the VAP bundle and alert management for deviations. - Maintain chain of evidence for forensic scenarios, complying with policy and procedures. **Physical Requirements:** - Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. - Frequently reach, handle, and feel various items. - Occasionally stoop, kneel, and distinguish colors. **Position Urgency:** Quick Start **EMR Used:** Meditech **Holiday Coverage:** Required
