**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** Variable start time, between 0600-1200 **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 per week **Experience:** Not specified **License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact **Certifications:** - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification **Must-Have:** - Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree preferred) **Job Description:** - Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data. - Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes. - Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. - Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. - Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. - Provide education to patients and their families by assessing their learning readiness, needs, and abilities. - Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs. - Deliver care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience. - Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy. - Utilize time, personnel, equipment, and supplies efficiently to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. - Serve as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes. - Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs. - Utilize standards of care, hospital policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. - Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. - Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. - Seek out learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance. - Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning. - Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice concerning professional practice standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations. - Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process. - Demonstrate commitment to the organization through ongoing participation in hospital and unit-based meetings. - Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data. - Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes, patient experiences, and safe delivery of care. - Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. - Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues. **Languages:** English (Speak, Read, Write)
