About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room (ER) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour nights, 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, 2 out of 3 major holidays **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years of ER experience **License:** Must have a valid RN license **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, PALS (TNCC and ATCN preferred) **Must-Have:** - 1 year of Trauma Level 1 experience - Recent Cerner experience **Job Description:** - Candidates must pass a clinical exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed). - Not suitable for first-time travelers. - Ability to float between multiple facilities approximately 30 minutes apart. - Day 1 pass/fail exam with study guide provided. - Pass/fail SIMs Lab, focusing on sterile field maintenance and nursing skill competency. - Complete additional education on lifts, restraints, and wound care. - Floor-specific orientation includes 2-3 shifts on the unit. - Care includes trauma and burns; pediatric cases are transferred out. - ER has 36 acute care beds and 54 subacute beds, with 6 trauma bays (no travelers in trauma bays). - Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio utilizing Cerner EMR. - Navy scrubs are required for the RN role. - Be able to read strips, with Phillips monitors in use. - Ventilators managed by respiratory therapists. - Medical staff includes MDs, midlevels, and Anesthesia available. - RT and pharmacy services available 24/7, with a pharmacist present in the ER 10 hours/day. - Common diagnoses include trauma and spinal cord injuries. - Facility handles approximately 88,000 patients annually, with daily visits ranging from 250-300.
