About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room (ER) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 3 years **License:** Active RN License **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS **Must-Have:** Completion of MyJourney Modules, Cerner experience, Copy of certifications **Job Description:** - The Emergency Room (ER) handles approximately 270-320 visits per day, with busier days reaching up to 350 visits. - Facilities include 62 beds, with additional hallway beds and chairs. - Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 to 4. - The unit uses the Cerner electronic medical records system. - Charge Nurses are available on both shifts but do not take patients unless absolutely necessary. - There are approximately three ER techs per shift responsible for tasks like EKGs and vital signs. - Every other weekend and two out of three major holidays are required for this position. - Nurses are required to interpret telemetric data using Phillips devices; no telemetry technicians are available. - Ventilator management is required, with respiratory therapists overseeing settings and equipment. - The unit accommodates pediatric patients in a designated area for ages 0-12 with lower acuity. - Nurses will manage a full spectrum of diagnoses from minors to critical care cases, including CVA, STEMI, sepsis, ICU admissions, etc. - The facility is a STEMI receiving center and a primary stroke center with a robust sepsis program. - The ER is divided into two sections, North and South, each with its own charge nurse. - The unit often has a large number of paramedic and nursing students on rotation, as well as student nurse externs. - A triage nurse is available around the clock during peak times.
