Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on and analytical ESG Manager to join our team. This role is essential in driving our sustainability initiatives and ensuring accurate and transparent reporting. The ESG Manager will be responsible for driving ESG efforts for the organization, as well as measuring and improving our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, with a particular focus on recycling, carbon footprint reduction, and eco-friendly procurement. This position requires a blend of communication, analytical, and ESG expertise. It also requires strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to support the success and reporting of our sustainability goals.
The ESG Manager position requires an onsite presence at our office in Somerset, NJ and will report directly to our Chief Operations Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages all aspects of the ESG data collection process including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring, expediting, summarizing, and communicating progress at regular intervals to ensure the organization meets it annual ESG reporting deadlines.
- Oversee the data collection process for environmental metrics, including waste, water usage, and energy consumption, to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Lead the development and implementation of protocols for tracking and measuring Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare materials to deliver to relevant stakeholders and assist in the development, documentation and execution of the ESG disclosure reporting program.
- Conduct ongoing benchmarking of ESG and sustainability disclosures relative to our peers, industry trends, and best practices.
- Recommend and manage eco-friendly initiatives, acting as the project manager and internal sponsor.
- Coordinate and compile information for CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Work with external partners and vendors to enhance our ESG reporting capabilities.
- Partner with Communications and appropriate internal functions to support development of our annual ESG report.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external ESG-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with various departments, including supply chain, procurement, and facilities management, to drive sustainability initiatives.
- Engage with customers and vendors, providing support and completing necessary ESG forms and documentation.
- Assist in the development and execution of long-term sustainability goals and objectives.
- Evaluate the financial impact of ESG initiatives and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure the company remains a leader in sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or related roles, preferably within manufacturing, packaging, printing, automotive, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Proven experience in managing environmental data tracking and reporting systems, with a focus on waste, water, and GHG emissions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to oversee complex data collection processes and ensure data integrity across environmental metrics.
- Proven track record of managing sustainability projects and driving organizational change.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels and external vendors.
- Familiarity with CDP reporting and other sustainability reporting frameworks ( Ecovadis, ISS. ...).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Background in financial analysis related to sustainability initiatives.
