Estimator and analyze data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture a product, construct a building, or provide a service.
Estimating is a valuable part of our organization. The Estimator is responsible for providing costs associated with a specific project by evaluating schematic and construction drawings and documents. The Estimator is critical in ensuring we know the complexity of a project as well as successfully bid and win a project. The Estimator will work closely with the sales team in providing information to them in a timely comprehensive manner, as well as communicating with the design team to optimize design solutions. At times, the Estimator may need data sheets and CAD images to reinforce the proposal and assist in the closing of a sale.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare Residential and Commercial proposals
- Review plans, specifications, and addendums to ensure the proposal satisfies the project requirements.
- Obtaining bids from vendors and sub-contractors for the completion of a project estimate.
- Generate models or review architectural drawings to determine the estimated amount of labor, material, and installations costs.
- Coordinate and communicate with project coordinators, project managers, fabrication, and purchasing for custom equipment, tools, and materials.
- Draw 2D elevations & 3D scope graphics representing the proposed scope of work.
- Prepare project proposals per spec and identify alternate value engineering options.
- Ability to meet hard deadlines on specific projects.
- Ability to multi-task with excellent follow-up skills and efficient under tight deadlines.
- Ability to document and report job progress clearly.
- Responsible for protecting the integrity of the pricing strategy defined by the Chief Financial Officer.
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) experience.
Qualifications:
- A passion for design, process, engineering, fabrication, and construction.
- Background in Building Construction, Construction Management, Architecture and/or Drafting.
- Ability to read Construction Documents with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be a reliable team player who can prioritize, organize, and close their tasks.
- Excellent analytic, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have experience with: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Revit / Sketchup, and/or knowledge of: Navisworks, ProCore, BlueBeam, MS Project, Hsbcad, Lumion, Dynamo, Rhino,
- Grasshopper, Python, C#, C++, etc... are considered assets.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, mathematics, architecture, or a similar field is required
- 2+ years of applicable estimating and/or project management experience.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating & take-off software, BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.)
