Estimator (Civil Construction)

Job Summary:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for shoring and earth retention projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in civil construction estimating, with the ability to also estimate other scopes of work such as excavation, underground utilities, and site work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed cost estimates for shoring and earth retention projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and documentation to determine project scope and requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities within estimates and provide solutions.
• Maintain and update cost databases and pricing models to reflect current market trends.
• Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and client presentations.
• Provide estimating support for other civil scopes of work as needed, including excavation and site work.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss budgets and cost control measures.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Estimator in civil construction, with a focus on shoring and earth retention projects.
• Familiarity with estimating practices across various civil scopes (excavation, underground utilities, site work) is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid is highly preferred
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
