POSITION SUMMARY
The Estimator I is responsible for assisting the Senior Estimator in preparing individual estimates and for total preparation of estimates when assigned by the Estimating Director. The Estimator I is accountable for accurate and timely quantity surveys. The Estimator I may also be responsible for preliminary pricing when assigned by the Senior Estimator or Estimating Director. The Estimator I must make every effort to satisfy the needs of external and internal clients with respect to each estimate. They must develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors in order to ensure we receive competitive and complete pricing for all estimates. The Estimator I is responsible for utilizing proper procedures and available tools in the preparation of an estimate.

- Acts as the peer to Project Engineers.
- Performs simple take-offs.
- Initiates and maintains Subcontractor relationships.
- Responsible for a limited number of divisions/building elements.
- Obtains exposure to operations in the field through:
- On-the-job opportunities.
- Standard assignments.
- Technical training program.
- Travel to Company and subsidiary offices; offsite client, subcontractor, and supplier meetings; and other locations across North America to fulfill the essential duties of the role as required.
- Regular and reliable attendance in person as required by your Supervisor, Company guidelines, and/or project and office obligations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Reads, analyzes, edits, and interprets information so that it is presented to clients and other stakeholders in a professional and partnership mindset.
- Responds effectively to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Effectively presents information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
- Utilizes Microsoft Office-based applications and project management software systems appropriate for this role (e.g. Procore, P6 Primavera, Bluebeam, Navisworks, Touchplan)
- Develops proficiency with estimating software relevant to their division (InEight, PlanSwift, AGTEK, etc.).
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical field AND internship/apprentice related experience and/or training OR equivalent education and experience.
