Job Description
Performance Contracting Inc seeks Estimator II at its facility located at 8130 Tridon Drive, Suite 100, Smyrna, TN 37167.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform detailed quantitative takeoffs on construction projects by analyzing blueprints/drawings, site visits, specifications, and other front-end documentation. Establish labor productivities for estimates based on historical data and complexity of planned project. Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level of risk for work and other factors for establishing margin percentages. Prepare and maintain a directory of customers, suppliers, and subcontractors. Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing. Participate in the customer alignment objectives of the branch by creating and maintaining positive customer relations. Responsible for the buyout of subcontractors for work outside of the self-perform group. Contract administration for secured projects including issue contracts and proactively sequence and manage the subcontractor’s work including billings and change orders. Assist in the hand-off of secured projects to the operations team. Create and implement job schedules; coordinate with field supervisors and foremen; and effectively communicate issues to negotiate the optimal position for our trade in the work sequence. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures (labor control) on assigned projects. Complete and be accountable for the job cost control measures through monthly financial analysis worksheets (FAWs) on assigned projects. Hybrid telecommuting: 4 days per week in office required.
Requirements
This position requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or a related field, plus 1 year of experience as an Estimator or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience with: (1) Analyzing construction regulations, scheduling projects, estimating/analyzing costs, and managing construction projects, information systems, and contracts; (2) Utilizing estimating & accounting software including Sage, On Screen Takeoff, and QuickBid to provide detailed quantities and costs associated with performing the work to provide competitive bids to clients; (3) Interpreting specifications and drawings for construction projects; (4) Utilizing estimating techniques, software, and databases to provide a detailed analysis of the work required for the project being bid on, to give the clients reliable data and confidence in the pricing; (5) Applying Lean construction methodologies in construction, partnering, probability, and statistics to ensure that the company can perform the work in the sequence and durations required for a bid; and (6) Communicating with clients to identify any contradictions or questions that pertain to the scopes of bid on work.
