Essential Job Functions
Generates and Develops Cost Estimates
- Analyzes plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare bids/quotes.
- Ensures all estimates meet or exceed expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Computes various cost factors.
- Prepares budgets for different work disciplines.
Performs Day-to-Day Estimating Tasks
- Sets up jobs in job costing.
- Attends pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
- Generates purchase orders and subcontractor agreements.
- Prepares change orders, submittals, and assists with other tasks to support the project team.
- Tracks and reviews cost history for operational buy-in review meetings.
Develops Beneficial Business Relationships
- Cultivates good working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and industry personnel.
- Builds a network of contacts within the community.
- Fosters positive relationships internally.
Communicates with Internal/External Customers
- Answers inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.
- Provides highest levels of customer service.
- Makes presentations to large and small groups.
- Translates technical information into easily understood language.
Promotes and Maintains Safe Work Environment
- Exhibits safe work behaviors.
- Wears all prescribed PPE as necessary.

Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology, Construction Management, related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2-4 years of previous experience in cost estimating; experience in civil estimating is preferred but not required
- Experience in CAD, drafting, and technical plan reading
