Southwest Division
Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego at the $200 million Groundwater Replenishment System in Orange County.
Responsibilities:The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Reads and interprets drawings, specifications, contracts and Requests-for-Proposals.
- Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development and procurement of bulk materials.
- Responsible for performing all aspects of estimating.
- Understands construction means, methods, and sequences.
- Recognizes construction terminology, measures, concepts and principles.
- Understands how various assumptions may impact the estimate.
- Develops proficiency in the use of the Company estimating systems and processes.
- Conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard estimating techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes.
- Prepares subcontract bid analysis of scope, and price.
- Assists with post bid subcontracts and material contracts.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous heavy civil construction experience
- Experience on water / wastewater projects
- Experience with Hard Dollar bidding software
- Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
- Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
- Self-motivated, curious, creative, flexible
- Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills
- Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

The salary range for this position is between $105,000.00 - 145,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
