The Estimator bids and wins highly profitable and feasibly constructible projects that have pricing strategies developed to maximize our profits, cash flow and avoid any losses during construction.
The Estimator is responsible for the coordination of bid documents, labor productions, subcontractor and vendor pricing, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, project start-up meetings, owner estimates, subcontractor and vendor requisitions and cost-to-completes.

The Estimator is responsible for the coordination of bid documents, labor productions, subcontractor and vendor pricing, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, project start-up meetings, owner estimates, subcontractor and vendor requisitions and cost-to-completes.
Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly investigates the specifications, scope of work, and drawings to develop accurate preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates and detailed estimates including quantity takeoffs
- Create subcontractor/material supplier bid lists
- Prepare bid packages, obtain bids from subcontractors and vendors
- Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the contract documents and the potential risks for a project. Makes well-supported recommendations on how to mitigate and price risks.
- Interfaces extensively with the Contracts department to address any risks or issues with the contract.
- Supports the buyout process, writes the requisition, and communicates all required information to the Project Team.
- Participate with the operations team during the strategy meetings on the approach to the project or estimate.
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary construction schedules and work plans.
- Participate in the project hand-off meeting between the project Operations team and the estimating team.
- Other duties as required
- 2+ years of experience in heavy civil construction with a strong civil background with experience in estimating and/or project operations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field preferred
- Background in project start-up meetings, sub-contractor and vendor by-outs, owner estimates, sub / vendor requisitions and cost-to-completes
- Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must.
- Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and ERP systems.
- Working knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems
- Working knowledge of HCSS highly preferred
- Will require travel to jobsites
